The Access and Inclusion Committee is an advisory body that helps Council to improve access and inclusion services and infrastructure in North Sydney. The committee is comprised of community members who have lived experience with a disability and who also have expertise and passion for producing strong access and inclusion outcomes.
The functions of the Access and Inclusion Committee include:
- providing expertise and advice on how to enhance accessibility and promote inclusion within Council’s infrastructure, facilities, events, services, systems and processes for people with disability
- advising on and guiding the implementation of Council’s Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2022-2026 and other strategies and policies relevant to access and inclusion
- advising on ways to raise awareness and encourage attitudinal change within the community to promote access and inclusion for all
- providing guidance on embedding the social model of disability across the organisation
