Traffic Committee

Cars on a street

Traffic Committee meetings are held at 10am on Fridays at six week intervals.

Understanding the process for traffic and parking changes

Any proposed changes to traffic or parking arrangements within the North Sydney area are first investigated by Council's Traffic team. If changes are deemed necessary, recommendations are then submitted to the Local Traffic Committee for review.

It's important to note that the Traffic Committee does not conduct investigations but rather reviews assessments submitted by others.

Traffic Committee composition and meetings

  • The Traffic Committee comprises four voting members: Transport for NSW, the NSW Police, the local State Member of Parliament, and North Sydney Council.
  • North Sydney Council has only one vote in these meetings, determined by the majority vote of the Councillors present.
  • Meetings are chaired by a designated representative of Council.

Meeting Agendas and Reports

Meeting agendas and reports are published on Council’s website on the Thursday in the week prior to the meeting, and can all be found below.

Report a traffic issue

If you have a traffic concern, please make a submission via email. Council's Traffic & Transport Engineers will investigate your concern and upon review, will advise in writing the outcome of their investigation and if the matter will be referred to the Traffic Committee. Please note the Committee provides a technical review on traffic matters and is external to Council. Before submitting, please check our Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) Action Plan to see if your issue has already been addressed.
