Visitor Parking Permits can be purchased and collected from our Council Customer Service Centre located at 200 Miller Street, North Sydney.
Permanent residents of the North Sydney Council area can obtain visitor parking permits. Each residential property is entitled to thirty (30) Visitor Parking Permits per year.
If the property is untenanted, property owners who do not reside there are entitled to up to five (5) Visitor Parking Permits per year.
Fees
- Visitor Parking Permits - $2.00 per permit
- Senior and health care card holders - $1.00 per permit
- Pensioner concession and Veteran Affairs card holders - free
A current concession card must be shown at the time of purchase.

Conditions
A Visitor Parking Permit exempts the bearer from the time limits and meter parking fees for one day. The parking area is written on the front of the Permit and parking is signposted, ‘Permit Holders Excepted’.
The conditions of use for the permits are:
- Visitor Parking Permits are not interchangeable and must be used during the allocation period.
- It is an offence not to comply with the listed conditions.
- This permit can only be used once and for one day only.
- This permit is valid only if the day of use has been scratched off.
- This permit is valid only in the Parking Area written on the front.
- The permit is valid only where parking is signposted – Permit Holders Excepted or Authorised Residents Vehicles Excepted.
- The permit is valid only if it is clearly visible to an authorised officer.
- This permit must be displayed on the left-hand side of the vehicle’s front windscreen.
- Misuse of this permit is an offence.
- This permit is not valid for use on a caravan, box trailer, boat trailer or any vehicle that exceeds 3 tonnes.
Proof of Residency
A request for Visitor Parking Permits must be accompanied by any one of the following current identifications registered to your current residential address.
- driver's licence
- registration on the electoral roll
- electricity or gas account
- Rental Bond Board receipt
- bank statement
- residential lease document
- home contents insurance
- electoral card
- rates notice (the postal address on the rates notice must match the property address)
Please note water accounts are not accepted as proof of residency.
Holiday Visitor Parking Permits
Permanent residents of the North Sydney Council area can obtain holiday visitor parking permits. Each residential property is entitled to five (5) Holiday Parking Permits per year.
