If your microchipped dog or cat is missing, report it to the NSW Pet Registry within 72 hours.

You should also contact local shelters and vets to see if anyone has handed in your pet. If you’re missing a different type of pet, contact local vets to see if it’s been found.

If you find a lost cat

Unlike dogs, cats are legally allowed to roam. We don’t encourage picking up or trapping cats, as they could be owned. Council Rangers will ask that any trapped cat be released at the location where they were caught.

Should you be concerned about the welfare of a wandering or stray cat you can contact the Cat Protection Society directly on (02) 95574818 or by email on info@catprotection.org.au and advise of your concerns.
