About the Opportunity
North Sydney Council invites expressions of interest from an experienced artist/s to develop and facilitate a series of creative workshops or activities for the residents Greenway, Milsons Point, a social housing complex. Council intends to incorporate the outputs from the creative workshops or activities into an artwork design that will be on public display in 2025.
Key Responsibilities of the Successful Applicant
- Develop a suite of creative workshops (minimum of 3, maximum of 5) and/or creative activities for residents, the outputs of which will contribute to the design of a temporary public facing artwork
- Ensure that creative workshops or creative activities are inclusive and accessible, encouraging participation from a diverse range of residents, many of which are older and come from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- Work with Council’s graphic designer to incorporate workshop outputs into a cohesive digital design
- Work collaboratively with project stakeholders, including residents to ensure the final artwork reflects the resident community's input
The workshops / activities form part of wider project to present a public artwork at Celebrating 70 years of Greenway. Our aim is to:
- engage residents in a collaborative design process
- Incorporate residents’ artistic contributions into a design that reflects their input and stories
- foster community pride and ownership by involving residents at every stage of the project
Successful applicant will be paid for development and delivery of creative workshops in line with NAVA National Association of Visual Arts guidelines and a materials budget of $500.
Key dates and Project timeline
- Expressions of interest close Wednesday 18 December 2025 at 5.00pm
- Successful applicant notified by 8 January 2025
- Workshop development and facilitation: late January-February-March 2025
- Final workshop/activity outputs due End March 2025
Selection Criteria
Applications will be assessed against the following criteria:
- Proven experience in delivering similar community focused creative projects
- Strong facilitation skills and the ability to engage with diverse community groups
- Capacity to work collaboratively with stakeholders and adapt to the needs of the community
