Efi Carr

I have spent the last 38 years living in Sydney, with the Lower North Shore as my home for the past 14. Originally from Cyprus, I migrated to Australia after completing my PhD in Nutritional Science in the USA.

My career spans senior leadership roles in the corporate sector, both in Australia and internationally, with a focus on Research and Development, Corporate Affairs, Compliance, Communications, and Corporate Social Responsibility. This diverse experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of the complexities of different cultures, particularly as I adapted to life in Australia and abroad.

With over 40% of our residents born overseas and more than 25% from non-English speaking countries, I actively contribute to the "Reach Your Potential" program, which supports skilled migrants in navigating the Australian job market. I am dedicated to promoting cross-cultural awareness and enhancing the Council’s connections with our vibrant communities.

My experience in Corporate Social Responsibility has inspired me to give back to my community in meaningful ways. I Chair the Board of the Kirribilli Neighbourhood Centre, which offers a range of programs to meet the needs of North Sydney residents, including mental health support through an organisation called KYDS, specifically designed for youth aged ten to nineteen. The Centre is home to the renowned Kirribilli Markets, recognized as one of Sydney's top ten markets. I also served as co-chair of the Neutral Precinct.

With my background in Compliance and Corporate Affairs, I bring valuable skills in governance, risk management, and operational integrity to my role as a Councillor.

As a newly elected Councillor, I am honoured to represent our community. I look forward to your insights on how we can enhance our community together.
