Upgrades and construction work in Bligh and Broughton Street in Kirribilli have been completed and open for use.
The Bligh Street shared zone permanent works as well as the streetscape upgrade on Broughton Street are now complete. It includes new paving, street furniture, lighting and plants.
After the successful trial of the Bligh Street Shared Zone in 2021/22, Council endorsed to make the works permanent at their meeting in April 2022. The project aims to create a safer space for pedestrians and improve the public facilities.
The majority of the project was funded by Transport for NSW's 2022/23 "Get NSW Active" programme with a grant of $950,000. Council contributed $50,000 as part of the Kirribilli Master Plan budget.
Transport for NSW will be reviewing the Bligh Street shared zone which will soon have a speed limit of 10km/h.
