Celebrating Climate Action Week

Council marked Climate Action Week with special events for our youngest eco warriors and business champions leading the way in sustainability initiatives.

Climate Action Week Sydney is an annual series of community-led climate action events across Sydney, aimed to get our community to take stronger climate action.

Nature Play

The Coal Loader participated in Climate Action Week with its Eco Playgroup event, Nature Play, last Monday.

Children and their carers romped around the Coal Loader for a play-based treasure hunt. They explored the sustainable features onsite and learned about how our actions go a long way.

There are more Eco Playgroups coming up on 29 May, 12 June and 26 June. Sign up here.

CitySwitch Champions Breakfast

Around 50 members of our local business community attended our CitySwitch Champions Breakfast at the Greenwood Hotel last Tuesday.

Mayor Zoë Baker addressed the attendees, speaking about Council’s actions towards net zero and the need for collaboration between business and government. She recognised the CitySwitch 2023/2024 Champions – businesses who have demonstrated best practices in their paths towards net zero.

Climate Action Week Sydney ran from 13 to 19 May 2024, but the need for climate action continues all year round. You can find out more about opportunities to help the environment and reduce your carbon footprint through Council on our Sustainability page.
