Changes to Parking Meters

Parking meter on the side of a road

Our parking meters are changing due to the upcoming Australiawide shutdown of the 3G network in August.

Due to the Australia-wide shutdown of the 3G network in August 2024, all parking meters in the North Sydney LGA will be upgraded. This means a new paid parking system is being installed.

Ways to pay for parking

  • Parking meters: New meters are currently being installed across the LGA
  • Touch N Go boxes: These are additional boxes to the meters which you will see installed around street poles, providing another way to pay. Here is a helpful video with instructions on how to use the Touch N Go boxes
  • PayStay App: Here is a helpful video with instructions on how to use the app. Use the app to pay directly from your smart device

Key points

  • The installation of the new parking meters is almost complete with all new meters operational by 25 July 2024 (The older meters will stay in use until the new meters are operational)
  • Parking zones and time limits remain unchanged
  • Additional ways to pay with options to only pay for the time you park

Assistance available

For one week starting Monday 22 July, third party staff will be at various parking locations across the LGA to help with any questions about using the new meters, Touch N Go boxes or the PayStay app.

Council also have the new parking meters and Touch N Go boxes available at the Customer Service centre. Staff will be available to assist with questions around how the new meters and boxes operate.
