Local Government Elections 2024

What you need to know about the upcoming NSW Local Government Elections.

The 2024 Local Government elections will be held on Saturday 14 September.

All residents of the North Sydney local government area aged over 18 years are required to enrol and vote at these elections.

Voters in North Sydney will be asked to elect ten (10) Councillors, five (5) for St Leonards Ward and five (5) for Cammeraygal Ward. Check here to see in which Ward your property is located.

Ways to vote:

  • vote at a polling place on election day
  • pre-poll (early voting) at a pre-poll venue
  • check your eligibility for postal voting (applications close 9 September)

Candidate campaign material

Election signage is governed under the Planning and Environment framework including the related Planning schemes, as well as the Electoral Act. Council seeks to promote compliance through cooperation. Council’s general approach is to request that the property owner or candidate remove non-complying signs. Fines may be applied where the property owner or candidate does not cooperate or where multiple offences have occurred. Read more about Candidate Election Material.
