Falcon Street shared user bridge closure and construction

An image of the artist's impression of the shared user bridge

Transport for NSW is building a new pedestrian and cyclist bridge at Falcon Street. The existing bridge will be closed from 11 April 2025, until mid-July 2025.

From 7pm on Friday 11 April, the existing Falcon Street shared user bridge will be closed for around 14 weeks. The new bridge is anticipated to open mid-July.

How will this affect you?

Detours: Travel times for pedestrians and cyclists may increase
Traffic impact: Some freeway lanes will close over Easter for construction
Safety considerations: Families with young children and vulnerable road users should take extra care when using detour routes

During this time, pedestrians and cyclists will need to use an alternative route via:

  • The footpath on the north side of Falcon Street road bridge
  • Separated crossings at Ridge Street and Ernest Street
  • Other recommended crossings at Ernest Street, Ridge Street, and High Street

Signage and traffic controllers will be in place to assist commuters in navigating the detour.

Map of detour is below.
