Timeline of works
2024 October
The Southern Wall heritage restoration is now complete, marking a major milestone in preserving the site's historic character. The high-level services installation in the gym has also been completed, and the structural steel installation for the 25m pool upper roof is nearing completion.
Work continues on the outdoor leisure pool with preparatory works now underway, and the seawater intake system is successfully connected to the seawall and wharf, supporting sustainable water use for the pools. The mechanical plant installation is progressing steadily, and the services and ceiling finishes in the Eastern Stair Tower are nearing completion as well.

2024 September
The Western Stairs' heritage wall restoration is now complete. The Southern Wall heritage restoration, and construction of the changing rooms, gym and internal spaces are progressing steadily, with the enclosure works continuing. The construction of the sundeck on Level 2 is also nearing completion and the structural steel for the 25m pool hall is being installed.
The gym space continues to take shape, with the installation of all mechanical, hydraulic and electrical services - and the wall linings encasing these services – now complete. The southern side glazing is nearing completion, and the ceiling finishes are also underway.

2024 August
Construction across the site is continuing and tiling of the outdoor 50m pool is now complete.
The western tower heritage restoration works are also now complete and the fit-out of plant rooms on levels 1 and 2 is progressing.
High-level services on level 3 have begun to be installed, and internal walls and ceilings are being 'closed in'.

Icon SI (Aust) Pty Ltd appointed to redevelop the North Sydney Olympic Pool.
2020 October
Final detailed design and tender documentation completed. Tenders called from a short list of eight prospective tenderers derived from an earlier Expression of Interest process.
2020 July
North Sydney Olympic Pool redevelopment received approval from the Sydney North Planning Panel on 1 July 2020.
2020 April

2020 March
Brewster Hjorth Architects informs Council that the independent planner assessing the application has requested further information and design changes to address predominantly heritage issues.
2019 October
DA lodged and placed on public exhibition.
2019 August
Progress is reported to Council and DA phase of the redevelopment project begins.

2018 June
Following an extensive Tender process for Design and Project Management Services, Brewster Hjorth Architects and sub consultant team are appointed to redevelop the NSOP complex.
2017 November
A mayoral minute was put to Council where it was resolved to continue the project with Option 2.
2016 March
